My 'real' name is a result of a pre-birth row between my parents. I hate it with a passion. It's feminine when I've never felt like a girl. My friends call me Sailor. Sailor is a salty speaking psychic navigator, of unexplored depths.
The great Voodoo Priestess Perdita Durango takes possession of my body when I'm forced to be woman.
Sarah Vaughan was nicknamed Sailor too, and she sang a song called Perdido ('Lost' in Spanish).
oh ok
ReplyDeleteI like Sailor. The sound of it. The echo of C'est La, the unspoken Vie. And Perdita Durango is one of the great Hero(in)es of literature, the Ballad of Sailor and Lula so much more than the films.
